The villa at Alaro has a luxurious feel inside and around the pool, in a location that looks down across the roofs of the town. The villa is up its own private drive and yet is only ten minutes walk from the bars of the little square at the north end of town (more like 15 mins to the main town sq). It’s a bit of a climb up the drive to arrive home at the end of the day, but if you’re up for this, then this is perhaps the villa that best combines a great cycling location and a beautiful place to relax.
Alaro is arguably the best place to base yourself for cycling on the island. Both ends of the mountains are accessable within reasonable length rides, so if you want to explore both ends of the island, then Alaro (or perhaps Bunyola) is the place to be. The charming cliff-top Deia and Valldemossa are within easy reach; the Soller Pass and Orient Loop are right on your doorstep. And of course being on the southern edge of the mountains, the flat roads of the centre of the island are accessible from Alaro any day you want to take it easier.
